The Bronx was buzzing with Halloween activities this weekend. Two local Universities welcomed young trick or treaters onto their campuses for some wicked good fun.
On Friday, Manhattan University held their annual Boo at MU. Different student groups from the University hosted various activities in numerous classrooms throughout 2 buildings on campus. Classrooms were turned into mazes, dance studios, art centers and more. Kids got creative with clay making silly monsters, colored Halloween activity sheets, learned how to make origami pumpkins, sang karaoke and designed stickers. Outside there was corn hole, face painting, crafts, an obstacle course, mini basketball and a whole lot more. The University students really came together to host a really fun event for the community. Plus, there was tons of candy being given out to the costumed guests. This free event was a smash.

On Sunday, the non-profit group Strive Higher Inc. held an outdoor interactive Halloween extravaganza. It was held on the Fordham University campus and the college students volunteered to host tables with different activities and treats for those in attendance. There were so many games and fun things for the kids to do. The college students served cranberry juice in makeshift IV bags alongside some festive cupcakes. Art tables were set up for the guests to paint small craft pumpkins or decorate Halloween ornaments. Young costumed guests bowled hitting mummy pins, got spooky tattoos, made slime and colored activity pages. The college students were great with the kids helping them with activities and encouraging them to try new games. The candy was plentiful here too. I had to correct a college student who urged my son to ‘take as much candy as you want.’ I kindly reminded him that 2 or 3 is enough.

My boy did enough trick or treating this weekend so on Halloween I think we might be staying in and decorating some spooky cookies… an activity even his teenage brothers will enjoy. Happy Halloween!!!
