If you’re looking for a family-friendly fall activity that captures the Halloween spirit (with a touch of Disney magic), the Nightmare Before Christmas Light Trail at the New York Botanical Garden is the perfect spot to visit this season!

This immersive light experience is inspired by the classic Disney Tim Burton film, blending art, music, and lights for a truly magical evening in the Bronx. It’s great for all ages — we saw families with young kids, groups of teens snapping photos, and even adults on spooky date nights. Whether you’re a die-hard Disney fan or just love Halloween, this event delivers all the cozy, eerie vibes.
When we arrived, we were greeted by a giant glowing pumpkin and the instantly recognizable sounds of The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack. From there, the trail came to life — glowing Jack Skellingtons, haunted forest scenes, and whimsical lights that made every corner feel like a scene from the movie. There were plenty of photo-worthy spots along the path, so definitely bring your phone fully charged (or bring a battery pack!).

Our little one may not have understood what was happening, but she was mesmerized by the lights. Watching her face light up (literally) was the sweetest part of the night. We spent a few hours walking the trail, soaking in the spooky-fun atmosphere, and already can’t wait to go back next year when she’s a little older. 👻💜
