Holiday Lights at the Bronx Zoo is back. Get your coats on and head over to the Zoo for a festive evening filled with holiday magic, luminous wonder and family fun that’ll have you all grinning from ear to ear.
The idea of going to the zoo but not seeing live animals feels strange, but it’s so beautiful to see the wildlife figures lit up. There are hundreds of animals featured in several different trails throughout the zoo. Many are life sized, some are displayed as a family and others transport you to a world under water.
Besides the visual wonder, there are also several hands-on activities sprinkled throughout the trails. New this year is a virtual snowball fight that had my 2nd grader and my teens captivated. They were determined to work together to defeat the snow monster. Goal achieved. Also new is a snow tube slide that is sure to thrill all ages. Be sure to check it out.
There are also so many spots to take holiday photos or snap some good sibling pics. Make sure your camera is charged and ready to go.
If you need a break from the cold, there is one indoor exhibit. Visitors are allowed in as others exit so there might be a line to get in, but it goes pretty fast. You can also go to the Dancing Crane Cafe to grab some food and eat inside.
Throughout the zoo, there are some snack spots where you can grab some hot chocolate or a pretzel. There’s also a designated s’mores station where you can roast your own marshmallows for your graham cracker and chocolate treat.
There really is a lot for the whole family to see and do. It’s definitely worth spending an evening to enjoy this local festive display. It runs on select dates until January 4th.
